GT Seals and Mouldings specialise in the compression moulding of SMC (Sheet Moulded Compound) and BMC (Bulk Moulded Compound).

SMC (Sheet Moulded Compound) is a thermoset compound reinforced by Glass Fibres. Through the process of compression moulding it can be manufactured into complex shapes producing a GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) component which can be painted to suit aesthetic requirements.

This form of GRP manufactured by GT Seals & Mouldings is suited to medium to high volume production. There is an initial investment in tooling but it is considerably less that Injection Moulding and the price per part is extremely cost efficient. Many industries favour this process and material in production. e.g. Automotive, Off-Highway, Electrical and White Goods Industries.

SMC compounds are available which combine excellent fire resistance, very low smoke generation and non-toxicity with good mechanical strength and electrical properties. This type of SMC, Polyester Composites, is exceptional in performance and is suitable for use in the Underground. Typical uses include seats, coverings and side wall panels.

BMC (Bulk Moulded Compound) is a mixture of Glass Fibre, Polyester Resin and Calcium Carbonate. Once put through the process of compression moulding this material delivers a small, complex finished product which is often used in the electrical industry as a result of its electrical insulation and corrosion resistance. GT Seals & Mouldings offer this processing capability.

Special requirements: Carbon Fibre; Woven Fibre; Specialist Resins- Phenolic, Vinyl Esters can all be accomodated.
